How to teach my chickens to use waterer?!

I made a contraption with the help of Pinterest to offer my chickens water at all time. It uses the little red cups with the yellow button type thing in the middle which will fill up the cup every time it is pressed. They just don’t get it, any suggestions on ways I can teach them?

Maybe you could put something edible they like in the cup. If they go to peck at it, they might figure it out when their beak gets wet. If one figures it out, the others should follow suit. Also, when changing feeders or waterers, I find it easiest if I take other water sources away until they get the idea.

I keep their regular waterer right there next to it until I know they are using the nipples or in your case cups.
Chickens are curious, they will peck at them and realize what they are fairly quickly.

Honestly I bought those first but birds couldn't or wouldn't I ended up with Horizontal nipples and 5 gallon buckets.. I took each bird as I got it held the beak to the nipple pushed the tab with my other hand they got the idea if the pee p is a week old or older they can activate them, never could regulate the cups

Make sure there’s fresh water in a bowl or their old waterer. If they don’t get this they can overheat very fast .....I read on here Somone drew a dot on the thing they’re supposed to hit...

I wouldn’t waste my time just get this, easy fresh water

I'm wanting to go this route to but stuck on which is better, the watering cups with the yellow thing or the horizontal nipples. Which one should I go for?

Go to amazon and read the reviews on each style. I think you will quickly make up your mind.

I use horizontal nipples and my chickens all do fine and stay hydrated, even in the heat of NC summers. The bonus is, clean water 24/7. I left my chickens for 8 days, nobody looking after them, with 2 horizontal waterers (10 gal) and they did/do fine. It's not the first time I've left them on their own. I wouldn't do that with conventional waterers or cups. I would be worried that they would get full of bedding/dirt or leak out.
