That is really cool. The two eggs we got today I crackled them open just to see if they were fertile and I be gosh darn they are, that is really cool, my daughter thaught that was really cool also. Thanks Alot!!

When you have double yokers-can one be fertilized and the other not? And if the hen hatched the egg would it be twins if both were fertilized??

In most cases, both yolks would be fertile, however, it's very rare and near to impossible for twins to hatch, as they are usually one head down and one head up at the aircell. They can only push against each other to get out and usually dont make it without intervention. That's the tricky part, knowing when to intervene.

thats funny, but I saw an article once where experimenters took the top off of eggs and covered them with saran wrap and incubated them.
They did this so they would have better view of the chicks as they grew in the shell. The pictures were remarkable. They all hatched and pictures were taken every day.

can you eat a fertile egg?
I just began raising chickens, june 19th they came
they are pretty much all laying eggs, I have 25 hens and one unexpected rooster, they were supose to be all girls.
now my family is saying I am killing a chick and I shouldn't eat them
I thought if you got the eggs out and put them in the frig it is ok
plus I live in michigan and it has been pretty cold out.
what is the right thing to do.
do I have to get rid of Rudy the roo?
are the yolks in fresh eggs thicker than in the store bought ones?
