i think we had a fertile egg today! of course i did not take a picture but at breakfast tomorrow i will look again. im not sure my egg had a "bullseye" but there was a big white spot on the yolk...some of the pictures its hard to tell b/c of the camera flash, but thank you everyone for all the great info/photo's. im hoping to get an incubator for xmas
ok, I have a question and I got to page 18 and still hadn't seen it asked...
why can't you leave the eggs under the chicken to hatch instead of putting them into a incubator? Is it because you're not sure the chickens will be broody and take care of the eggs,or because you would be wanting more chicks than the chicken can handle?

When you only use hens, unless you have a hen that is always broody, you don't get to pick the time you want chicks. However, hens can be more dependable as far as hatch rates go, because nature generally knows best.
