How to tell a new hampshire red from a rhode island red?

New Hampshire Reds are generally more of an orange/red in color. Rhode Island Reds are closer to a brick red color.

they are probally production reds. RIR's will be really dark red! almost maroonish. I love my production red, lay's tons of eggs.

wow! you guys are so helpful. one of my chickens looks exactly like the one in that picture and some are darker red. So I guess I am going to just go with Rhode Island Reds. I hear they start laying at 5-6 months anyone hear any different?
