How to tell if a bird has sour/impacted crop?

I'm wondering how to tell from personal experience. So, I had a hen, and she got an injured crop and some of my folks told me it could have been one of the 2.
I'm just trying to see this from a personal experience like how you or a friend noticed it! Also, what's the difference between the two?
