How to tell if Coturnix quail eggs are going to hatch?

You caught me

I started them on the 8th so technically tomorrows the 17th day. I was just wondering if there was a way to see if all of them were still alive without hurting them. I'm so used to chicken eggs and candling them and knowing which ones are fertile and such. The coturnix buggers make me play the waiting game...a game I've never been so good at.

Even for more seasoned pros than me...They usually just kinda wait and see for coturnix. It's like they are a totally different species than Chickens

If you don't have little fuzzy butts by the end of the month...then scrap for recycle and set those Zambian Gutter Snipes you have always had your heart on.

It's just an imaginary species, but symbolic of any other species that people can't wait to set once their coturnix magically hatch in 16-17 days....Which they don't! EVEN IF YOU COUNT RIGHT

Let then go thru 20 days before the crazy float test, only reason to do that is before you throw them away, unless you are in a hurry to throw them away. If they are alive ,floating them want make them hatch sooner, could hurt if you cool them down to much.
