Nah shells are too thick, they all passed the float test yesterday though. Didn't want to mess with them too much today, just gonna wait and see
unless you saw movement , wouldn't bet those floater will all hatch....just me floating does mean its alive.

yep it's looking pretty bleak
Just wondering, what keeps them from waking up? If they're still viable why do they just die?
You want to look for movement when floating...
No idea what could have happened
maybe another power outage you did not know about?
I crack every no hatcher to check for reasons of non-hatch... but if you don't want to do that you can bring em over and I can for you. I have the next couple days off work.
what day is it now?
i let em sit 20-21 days then float and any movers goes back in for another couple days..
I had a really really late hatch when I had some power outages during the batch... so its possible they are alive if that was the problem but its starting to look slim
I look for development stage of the embryo, I also look for excess water or extra dry.
If they died in a power outage the embryos would all have died at same stage of development.
If the humidity was to high there would be pipped membrane and fully developed chick that drowned.
If humidity was to low then the membrane will have "shrink wrapped" and prevented enough movement to hatch.
If any of the above is a dominant factor then you narrow the problem down to hopefully fix the problem and get a better hatch in the next batch.
Since I breed I also look for stats on any deformities and the number of quitters from any specific pen. So I can cull any that have high fail hatch rates.

Thanks for the info, I'm going to try this a little later, I'll let ya know what happened with em
Looks like for the most part, they all died at about the same stage
I'm guessing the power outage. There were 3 though that hadn't fully developed, it doesn't look like it was a humidity issue so I'll guess maybe the temperature fluctuations? Any chance you have a little quail that's young enough to be buddies for my loner?

I have a batch hatching this weekend so I should have a good buddy for em

Yay!
I would wait till my next batch hatches out but he'll be about 2 weeks and that's probably too much age difference for the tykes to get along
Sure do love the little dude. He hops like a grasshopper
