Haha, actually this is a great idea! I'm going to get some leg bands and do the same thing. That way it will be easy to remember their names, too, as long as they wear the leg bands.

It is easier! I hope I can tell my Blue Cochins and MIllie Fleurs apart.

Hello, welcome to BYC. I use a little food coloring, but not sure that'd work on black. I never use the red color, it might cause pecking.

I do this with two hens I have that look alike. I put a different color of food coloring on the white part of their tail feathers. It works well. If you can find a light spot to rub it into. Blue green and yellow work well. You could leave one without color. I reapply every 6 weeks or so.
