How to tell the difference…

Based off of the second picture your duckling is not a Pekin. Possibly buff although if where you purchased has the possibility of fawn and white runner that would be my bet.
Oooh! I know that TSC gets them from Hoover’s in my area, so it’s a possibility, but they seem so much larger than my darker duckling, so I thought probably not a runner? I’ll post a photo from today though!

I was thinking fawn and white runner too!

I was leaning toward the cutie in the back being the more likely runner. This yellow baby stands lower I think. Thoughts??

It's hard to tell the stance from the photo, but
when I had runner ducks, as ducklings the two were both larger than my other breeds at the time (excluding the Rouens, but close to the same size). As adults they both stood taller than the Rouens, but of course weighed less. Also the drake runner as a duckling was close to double the size of the female runner duckling (both fawn and white).

Edit: I wanted to add that my runners were from tractor supply and the male especially was not nearly as lean and upright as you see in the stock photos online or from the show stock. Here's an old picture of them as you can see they're taller than even the Rouen Drake when fully grown, but you can also see the male isn't the perfectly slender upright runner specimen.

Another old picture I found of them I believe they were around 3 weeks old in this picture:

Oh wow! I had no idea they could be such big babies! Well, that would be incredibly cool! Thank you for the insider info. I never even considered a runner would be a possibility but they are my dream ducks!

Do you have any photos of them when they were little? I would love to compare!
