Hi All,
This is my first time posting on here and I just became a member. I am very excited. I inherited most of my flock from the previous owner when we bought our ranch. They are lovely fat old lady chickens and we love them. However I was at our local feed store on Friday and they had these 2 beautiful "mini Russian chickens" I of course bought them and brought them home. After doing some research I believe they are Bantam Russian Orloffs, I ended up with a little Roo and Hen I would like to breed them however I am so new to this and I would eventually be selling some of their offspring. How do I know for sure if they are "pure" Russian Orloffs or does that matter? Here is a picture of them, the

hen is about the size of a pigeon the Roo is not much bigger than her.

They are not Bantam Russian Orloffs. ;) Those are extremely rare. What you have there seem to be Mille Fleur d'Anvers. They are a type of true bantam, having no large fowl counter part.

@Cyprus I know you breed d'Uccles, but would you agree that they are d'Anvers? The hen has too much white in my opinion to be show-able, but they are quite cute.

@keesmom - I didn't see you and I had posted the same thing. lol

Those are cute names. You could always go with something snooty and French if you want as Mille Fleur translates to "thousand flowers" if you've been inspired to find Russian Orloffs in either large fowl or bantam varieties and want to save the names for them. :)

Both have way too much white to be shown.
