Surgical spirit may be called rubbing alcohol where you are.

Here I think rubbing alcohol is isopropyl alcohol.

Top recipe is the one I use minus the DE. Works like a charm and the birds are lice free in 24 hours. I also add garlic powder to their feed because apparently lice don’t like garlic flavored blood.

I don't know. I used to buy it in a bottle with surgical spirit written on the label.
