How to use chlorhexidine

Shad, that is what I thought, but I was wrong. If you read the directions on the label, it is to be diluted. Hibiclens, which is 4% chlorhexidene, and it is used with a little water to wash hands or body, but must be splashed off. It is different from the oral rinse of 0.12 % that is not diluted. Here is the label instructions for chlorhexidene % for vet or human use:

I've been using Chlorhexidine for almost a decade and have never diluted it.
The spray I have is 10mg/ml. I use this without dilution.
The mouthwash I have, which I've used on chickens when I haven't been able to get anything else is 0.2% by volume. I don't dilute that either.
I got a Chlorhexidine liquid from a vet at 0.4% by volume and was told not to dilute that.

No chickens died from Chlorhexidine poisoning and I haven't died from using the mouthwash either.

At 2% it's already diluted. Don't dilute it any further. Use at the 2% it comes as.
Apply to the wound, spray or by dropper and leave it on the wound. It's not a cleaner so don't scrub or wipe with it.
Wait — ugh — when I get home later I’ll send a photo of the bottle. Thanks!

Thanks. I’ll check the bottle later today when I’m home. I appreciate the feedback!

I just asked at home and was told it’s a 2% solution with instructions for dilution …

Yes. I put 2% instead of 0.2% in my first post. At 2% rather than 0.2% then dilution makes sense.
Well spotted.:)
I'll correct my first post.

Don’t hide under a chair! Ha! That’s ok. :-) I diluted the 2% per the instructions and spray it on my rooster’s open wounds twice a day.
