How to vaccinate your own chicks?

How do you vaccinate your chicks for cocci etc? Pictures would be good.

There is not a vaccination available for cocci. If you want to medicate against it, then you can feed a medicated chick starter food.

As far as other vaccinations go, it all depends. Some are administered differently than others. For instance, the Infectious Bronchitis/New Castle vaccine can be given as drops in the eyes or nares, or mixed in with the water. If you go the route of the water, then it's a bit trickier. If you vaccinate for Coryza, then you are going to give a subcutaneous shot at the base of the neck. If you want to vaccinate for Mareks, this needs to be done when the chicks are a day old and in the base of the neck like the Coryza vaccine.

Each vaccine is different, but they do come with instructions and are surprisingly easy to administer.

Thankyou very much! Murray McMurray vaccinated my chicks for Cocci, it is probably injected into the egg before hatching

Are you sure they vaccinated them for cocci? There isn't a vaccination for cocci that I'm aware of. The most common vaccinations that are offered from hatchery's are the IB/New Castle and the Mareks. You might want to double check what vaccinations your chicks received.

I may be mistaken, but I also think McMurrays DOES offer a Vacccine for cocci. It is on the bottom right side of the back of their catalog, if I remimber right. It also says if chicks get this vaccne do not feed medicated feed because it will nullify the shot. My catalog is at my fathers so I cannot verify this right now, but I will tomorrow.

Yes they do because I asked my chicks be vaccinated for both Mareks and Cocci, it said on their shipping box "chicks vaccinated for Cocci "

Cackle I believe only vaccinates for Mareks and not Cocci, that's one reason I was asking about vaccinating for Cocci cuz I'm getting my new batch of chicks June 1st from cackle Hatchery.

15 cents dont sound too bad
