how to worm goslings for gizzard worms?

i usually let them out on a pasture when they get about two months old. i dont have an available pen right now, so i cant put them in a pen yet. its far to dangerous out in the open. theyve never had a problem with my feed before. its supposed to have all the things they need. my goslings last year were all raised on this to and did fine until they were of age to live on the pasture.
ive analyzed the feed and it is a complete diet except for the niacarin, so if i keep supplementing niacarin, i think they can make it until i pasture them next month.

When my gosling were just a couple weeks old I was hanging a whole head of romaine in their brooder and man could they make mince meat out of it in no time. They love greens.

glad to hear your seeing improvements already.

i might give them some when i can, but vegetables and fruits are a bit pricey in this area. im sure when i get them on the pasture, they can a lot of greens then. maybe i could get them to eat alfalfa pellets.

if they are not large enough to go out i would pick a bunch of grass a couple times a day they really do need fresh greens i made the mistake of to high of protein feed and not enough greens when i first started with my geese and ended of with one that has a permanent case of angel wing because of it, fresh greens are so,so important with young geese

what works for me might not work with you, but im not completely new to them. ive raised quite a few now on this feed. it is supposed to be a vegetarian diet enriched with vitamins and nutrients that are found in many plants. ive heard that to high protein can cause angel wing, and when i first started, it worried me. i only do this for two months and then they go to the pasture and can eat the plants that grow around my pond. however, i am thinking of buying a lettuce hook and keeping a lettuce in it at all or at least most times, since i grow lettuce.

From what I've read from other geese owners they don't care for alfalfa. I go to Sams from my romaine much less expensive than grocery store. But now that they have grass I won't give lettuce till after first frost. But goslings still in brooder needs greens

thats what ive been hearing now, but through my experience with my chinese (not sure if it is different for the greylag breeds) it is not as important as they say. i raised both of my ganders without a single blade of grass for the first two months of their lives. this year, ivr raised three more chinese goslings the same wa. now that ive gone back to my old ways, these goslings are becoming healthy and growing again. maybe this feed has what all the greens has in it, because theyve always loved this and will gobble it right up. my young cousins come to feed with me and will throw them various grasses and weeds, but they prefer this feed. im not sure what it is about it, but its good stuff!!!

yes i think the lettuce is a good idea the gosling i had that got angel wing by week 4. but they are your geese you can do as you wish i am just giving you my experience and the information i gleaned from researching causes when i noticed the problem.

i would recommend this to anyone, although i will start giving them lettuce just to be on the safe side. if nothing else, it is a more natural food, which is always best.

i will start adding lettuce to their diet just to be safe. i spent $100 on them you know. the main things greens have in them are vitamin k and vitamin b, so that tells us geese need a lot of that.
