how well can chicks fly? wing clipping?

Our chickens free range in our back yard. When they were younger they did perch on and fly over the fence frequently. We ended up clipping a wing on just one chicken ( the one that was up there the most). Once she stopped the rest of them stopped as well. Problem solved and we didn't have to clip everyone.

at what age do you clip if you need to? my chicks are 9 weeks old and we live in a neighborhood my neighbors have rotties that would love my girls o fly over for a visit. my girls are in our orchard in a space abot 24ft x 14ft maybe a bit bigger. anyway i think i will need to clip how soon should i do it?
