Okay, I have used Photobucket for over 10years now and they are still going strong! I have thousands of pictures with them. On top of that I have thousands of pictures on my phone, laptop as well as files I want to keep. I am a full time college student and also have a son with autism so I go through and keep a lot of things I find useful, also written papers/homework etc.,...

I'm worried about all my pics being on a place like photobucket, I mean I really am trusting my memories to someone else! Do you guys use external flash drives? Do you have several? I was thinking about keeping one maybe in a fire proof lock box? lol I sound a little paranoid I know. I was also thinking about a heavy duty on o a key chain but I worry that if lost then others would have access to all my personal pictures/files.

I'm doing a complete clean sweep of my lap top, it severely needs it

External drives would be the best way to go. Invest in a good one and it could last you for a while. If you are extra paranoid about it, back everything up on a zip drive and CDs too. That way, you can have 4 different ways to save.

We have a few 500 GB boxes that have pics, movies, and music on them. I now see 1 TB boxes for $80. I would recommend using those. They can store a lot and take up less space than discs. I have lots of disc too,but I don't really put pics on them anymore. If I need to print a photo I just hook up the box to the printer,or add it to a flash drive to take to the store.

Wanted to add that I do not store anything on the computer either.Had a few stolen so everything gets moved to the boxes, disc,or flash drive.

Thank you! Looks like keeping things on multiple external devices is the best idea! I'm planning to get everything off from my photobucket too.

I read about password protected flash drives as well that I might look into, at least if it were stolen or lost your personal info wouldn't be able to be viewed.
