hi, this morning I went back to my run to see my beautiful ameracuna laying in the corner, not moving. I examined the corpse to see that there was a bloody hole near her earlobe.. when i first found her she was bleeding from the mouth, ears, and eyes. I have no idea how she died, she was one of my favorites, she would sit on my lap while i read :(.

there was a pile of feathers near her body, the other chickens were riled up too.

I'm so sorry for your loss! Do you think your other chickens could have killed her or did something else get in and attack her? Any wounds on the other birds?

That’s what im thinking.. i have a rather aggressive rooster.. i dont know why i didnt seperate them.. im just oblivious i guess haha :hit

I'm sincerely very sorry for your loss. :hugsHonestly, without a necropsy, it would only be guessing. If she was sick she could have been attacked by flock members before she died. She may have been cannibalized after death, it happens. There are so many things that could have happened, it's just impossible to say without any other evidence to go on. If your coop or run is not predator proof, then a predator is a possibility also.
