How would you scare off a cat?

Go to a sporting goods store and get some coyote urine. Spread a line of it between your property and your neighbors. That smell will usually deter cats. Although if you have coyotes in your area, it may draw them in.

Thank you. Yeah, there are all sorts of things one can do if we want to get creative about it. One of my cats is one of those bobtail varieties. He is rather odd and may be an issue in the future. You can often find him in a cedar tree stalking squirrels. This cat is something else, he has trained my three dogs which have a tally of over a hundred dead cats to their names, and has them intimidated and afraid. I often wonder if they think he is part dog or some sort of wolverine chimera.

They cower down to him actually. And these are 60 pound dogs too. One is a housedog, one is housed in the yard with the remainer on roaming patrol. He actually goes up and eats the one in the doghouse's food and she has nothing to do with him.
His mother abandoned him when he was 5 weeks old during an ice storm. I figure because he had no tail. I heard him crying and brought him inside. I raised him to be tough as I figured he would be at a huge disadvantage not having a tail when faced with another tomcat. Believe it or not though, he is as agile a climber as any cat with a tail and seems to get along just fine :)

Our dog was taught to be very respectful of cats by our old boy who is no longer with us. And the training continues with our deaf, half blind white cat who doesn't take no nonsense from any dog. If the cats get on the dogs bed, she won't go near it. Cats are scary.

My sister recently visited with her young French Bulldog. He kept going up to our deaf cat and trying his luck. He finally got the message when she'd finally had enough and chased him up the hallway. After that he didn't want to go anywhere near her.

Every dog needs to be exposed to an assertive cat! It's a lesson they don't forget.
