How'd this happen? I do NOT like chickens. Oh, who can resist?

LOL!!!

I really didn't and "don't" like chickens either but there are five of them in our living room stinking up the house with their brooder. How'd that happen?! I wanted DUCKS!

My daughter wanted chickens. I was skeptical but they have won me over. Watching a week old chick take a "dust bath" in pine shavings and "scratch" at the aluminum feeder are some of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life.

Chickens: 2
Me: 0

Okay, I guess like chickens, after all. Good thing, too, since they've taken over our lives (shhhh - don't tell our other animals).

BYC-ers congratulate yourselves for luring in yet another into our addiction!

If I could get pulled in, ANYONE can get pulled in too!

Oh help me if they ever raise the ordinance to more than 2 chickens...

I thought my Ears were burning
I couldn't believe she wouldn't give in to my getting some Buff O's, I was trying to be as cute and Iresistible as I knew how. Although it's probably better because the guy sell's mixed breeds as far as we can tell.

Now on to the duck's,
He had the Cutest little Black and Yellow baby ducks I ever set eye's on. I don't know what kind they were but some had Black feet and some yellow.
I tried to tell her we have a pond right across the street and we could get some Ducks and Geese.

HMM, Goats Huh?? I bet it would save a whole lot of mowing.

The chicken addiction DEFINATELY sneaks up on you!
My DD and I are addicted. DH is annoyed by our addiction and yet he likes watching them. Sadly though.. he is more annoyed than anything... it is mostly what I talk about because I am planning my chicken run and coop (to start tomorrow)

Well.. it took me 4-5 yrs to get him into fishing... so I will just bide my time about the chickens too. (Actually, he likes the chickens... it's the DUCKS that he detests!)

Congratulations for coming clean and finally admitting your weakness!

Today, we found a taker for the rooster. The guy who took rooster wil be a future addict too. He got home with the rooster, ans called to ask if we were willing to sell him any of the hens. We decided to sell him the 2 hens that came to us with the rooster- kinda like keeping the family together.
So, DH, Bird Hearder found this thread. And says that now, we'll have room for more. And he wants cute lil ducks.
But neighbors dog got loose and got a chicken today ( mising a few feathers, but seems to be ok, but maybe in slight shock) So I think we'll have to put up a fence, or some sort of barrier to keep that from happening again, and add on to the coop and pen before he'll start asking for more babies.
Meanwhile, I'll keep away from all fuzzybutt babies. Because yes, those ducks are adorable.

As for goats- no! Our neighbor used to have a goat that hated me- it would always get loose and come running at me , stand up and butt me hard between the shoulderblades.

just keep in mind.. about ducks.. you will need a different pen for them. They will dirty up your coop in no time and the chickens will poop on them.

Ducks are so different than the chickens.

I love my ducks, but wish we had waited!
