thank everyone,

Wow so are you all up really late or something?? its 5pm here and its just started raining AGAIN. South Gippsland in Victoria is reasonably lush all year round but we've had an exceptionally wet Spring and Summer and looks like we're in for a wet Autumn (Fall?)

have spent the best part of the arvo out watching the girls such good time wasters!!

off to browse the rest of the forum thanks for makin me feel so welcomed x x x

Welcome! from Utah, USA.. sloped roof is important, also ventilation.. we went with a sand floor, no sweeping an mopping, just rake a little of the dried poo and good to go, cement foundation, and some 2*4s to hold up the roof. the budget kept us thinking simple, but get creative take a little ideas from what you research and build something functional.. then put your decorating expertise to the outside with embellished siding and painted like a barn. It will all come together in the end.

I guess I'm a neighbor compared to some others, 'only' 6 or so hours drive away.

Sounds like you have a nice mix of chickens but beware! They are addictive!

I was supposed to have 6 hens max and a roo so we could have chicks to grow for meat... currently I have:

Flock of 10 x 5 month olds, 6 pullets & 4 cockerels, assorted breeds

6 x 6 week olds, 3 Silkies and 3 Pekins (they call them bantam Cochins in the USA
