Hello BYC,
I've been lurking here for several months as I've planned my re-entry into the chicken world. This site has been super helpful in the process.
Just like Lesley, in another newbie post today, I just moved near Georgetown, TX from Austin. Today, I drove to Cameron, home of Ideal Poultry, to pick up thirty pullets: 15 feather-legged, cuckoo Marans and 15 silver grey Dorkings.
I'm using an old brooder my uncle bought at least 40 years ago from a hatchery in Taylor. When I was in high school, twenty-ish years ago, I raised 50 black Australorps in it.
As you can see, Kiki has lost interest already.
