Hello,

This is Ken and Rachel from Ridgeway, SC. We have a small farm, raising Nigerian Dwarf milk goats, Rhode Island Reds, Leghorns, Buff Orpingtons, Gold and Silver Wyandott's, and Black Ausrtolorp's, plus 2 pairs of Khaki Campbell ducks, all for egg production. I also have a few bee hives of Italian and Russian honeybees for wax and honey production!! We have various fruit trees and vegetables growing on our place, and I also hunt and fish/crawfish. We were both raised to live off the land as much as possible, and enjoy it quite a lot!!

In the hopefully near future, I want to get some matching pairs of Welsh Harlequin ducks to add to our flock, and I also plan on obtaining Bobwhite quail locally to repopulate the woods surrounding our home, since I love their singing and it reminds me of my childhood in South Carolina!!! We also plan on building an incubator to try our hand at hatching some of our eggs, but only on a small scale, for personal use and swap/sale birds.

We both love history, music, British television, and self sufficiency!!! We welcome any advice or trade opportunities, so feel free to contact me on here.

Take care, and thanks for having us

. Welcome to BYC. Lots of good stuff going on here. Seems I herd of some one looking for N.D. Goats, and they were from S.C.. But that may have been on our sister sight....Back Yard Herds ( BYH.).

Hi Ken and Rachel!
Welcome to BYC. I would love to see you set up and some pictures of your animals. I'm in Wisconsin and have quite a hobby farm as well. Best of luck if we lived closer I guarantee we'd be doing some trading.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sounds like you have an nice farm, Good luck with your projects!

Welcome to BYC! You have a good group of layers. Black Australorps are my favorite standard breed as they are very hardy, calm and gentle, and excellent layers of large, brown eggs. Good luck with your flock.
