(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

VERY new to chickens here! Having my own coop and layers has been a wish for years. We’re a prior military family, moved around the world and finally back for good in Texas. We’ve lived in the neighborhoods for the last 7 years and are preparing to move out to some land in the Hill Country in the next 6 weeks, so it’s finally a possibility ahead of me!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Zero. In the planning stages, and likely to not have the coop built until winter (which is not much winter to speak of, temperature-wise!) and chicks not bought until spring. This is a great resource to answer questions as I plan.

(3) What breeds do you have?

---

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

Pinterest, actually!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I’m a homeschooling mom of five (oldest is a graduate now) and in the few minutes of spare time I have, I knit, can, garden, and refurb furniture.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

See above re: homeschooling. It’s quite the occupation!
