Howdy There to yall. UT newbie

Also, last night as I was changing water and food, I left the gate door to their temp housing open. They all just kind of stood there looking at each other. As I left, I left the gate open. It took about 5 minutes but Red finally came out quickly followed by the other 2. They stayed right next to me as I walked around the yard. I laid down on the grass and they began being chickens. Scratching the ground, eating greens, and bugs. I stood up to change the water, and when i came back all 3 were back in the kennel just chillin. I think this weekend as I continue to build the new home, I will let them hang out with me and do more chicken stuff :D

Hello to you, fellow Utahan!
I just joined a couple of days ago. We got our chickens the end of June so we are very new to raising backyard chickens. I like your coop. The whole chicken, coop building thing can be very addicting and expensive! I don't even want to add up how much we have spent so far. But I love getting fresh eggs and watching the girls.

I am learning so many things and this site really has some great information. Where in Utah do you live? I live in Sandy.

Have fun with your chickens and finishing their coop!

Leslie

Here is a picture of our coop. We are going to be doing some more modifying tomorrow. You learn as you go!

I am in Orem. And cost wise, I lucked out. I have a lot of friends that are carpenters and framers, so I got all of my wood for free :D. I got a bunch of shingles for free but not many of them matched and I didnt want the roof to look like one of grandmas quilts :D
