Hi! Total newb here, but have looked on this site numerous times for chicken expertise. [IMG] Anywho, my question is this, does anyone know if:

    1. This breed of chicken
    2. Whether it's a roo or a hen?

I'm thinking that it's a Cochin and his feathering is different from my buff orpingtons and white buffs. So I'm guessing it's a roo? Any help would be greatly appreciated![IMG][/IMG][/IMG]

Glad you could join us here! I'm afraid I can't see your pic very well due to the shadow. If you could get a pic in the light please do pop by the what breed gender section ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this
I'm sure members there will be able to help you out.

Wishing you the very best of luck and enjoy BYC :frow

Do post her in the link given.

My guess is ... a cockerel. I see red coming in the shoulders, and also see some saddle feathers.

Also, on breed..hmmm, not sure, could be a mix. Big chicken, does not look pure Brahma or Cochin to me, but, it is still young. If I were to guess one of those breeds, I would go with LF cochin, because of that pretty round tail coming in. :)

Welcome to BYC! It's great to have you.

Not sure of breed, possibly Cochin, but that's definitely a little cockerel.
