Howdy

When you say "CRX", do you mean meat birds? If so, you might like to read an article written by another member @duluthralphie
. Here's a link to it if you'd like to check it out:

I only have egg layers but have considered raising meat birds in the future and duluthralphie has an interesting take it.

Nice to have you join us!

Thanks. For the welcome n the link. Lol. Yes I was talkin meat birds. Interesting take on raising broilers. I try 2 do them as cost effective as I can n put em in the freezer by 8wks or so.

It's always interesting to find out how other folks are doing things with their birds. But cost effectiveness would have to be a big driver (at least for us when we get to do it).

Yes. If I remember right my last 30 gave me +/- 200 lbs of chikin for a little less than $300. I've been reading about fermented feed n I'm going to try that with the next batch to see if it does cut the feed bill.

Now that's a good cost savings off anything you'd be able to buy at the store. And I'm sure it's better tasting and better for you too. Thanks for providing some numbers!

Much better tasting! As far as being better 4 me? Well at least I know they weren't mass processed n then dunked in bleach solution to kill whatever bacteria got on them during all that. I do mine in the backyard n hose the carcass off several times during the process b4 they go in the mud rm fridge b4 we cut them up n put them in foodsaver bags.
