Hey everyone, 2 newbies here. We're finally breaking away from the big city and HOA's closing on a few acres of dirt out in the country at the end of the month (barring anything unforeseen)...50 years in the making. I'm here researching and learning everything I can to help make smart decisions and minimize loss to ignorance or having to do things twice.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I had chickens as a kid, but my dad got sick of them and got rid of them and we were city dwellers after that. Wife had ducks as a kid.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Zero, and we're actually starting with some ducks but chickens are in the near future.

(3) What breeds do you have? None yet, but we've got a reserve on a few Magpie ducks.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Every google search on chickens takes you to this forum so I thought it made sense to join!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Cooking, hunting, woodworking, and have a small side business making paracord products

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. DINKs, 5 dogs, 7 cats and 2 aquariums.

Wow you have a lot of pets! I love that! Well I wish you the best of luck with your ducks. I personally don't know much about ducks but my friend owned 8 so if there's anything serious I'll try to ask her about it. But anyways I hope you meet so many great people, and of course,
