Update: Three eggs this morning! Woot! That's only three out of sixteen hens, but they apparently they had a conference last night and decided that it was time to start paying the rent again. Hopefully more eggs soon! Maybe next week I can start incubating again... ducklings yay!

Glad your getting something at last. Was it your Maggies or Runners. Im getting 2 a day from my babies, Sly laid a HUGE egg this morning and I also got another pale greeny coloured one. Oh I was telling DH about your ducks, sort of moping that yeah she wants me to take some of her ducks but it cost to much to get up there in gas, he was like well how much is she selling them for, I told him I didnt know. Im making strong hints to him and saying oh her siler coloured one is realllly pretty, I wish I had 1 that colour. Cat, take some pics of your pale ducks and post them so I can show him, Do your silvers and your F&W and a few blues just so he can see...so he can feel sorry for me and my sore back and say well lets go get them. LMAO hey a womans got to do what a womans got to do.

I'm hoping they'll start laying this year but neither of them have egg bellies yet

This is my first year with laying ducks...I have four Cayuga hens and only one is laying so far. I assumed it's the bossy one that the drakes all gang up on first thing in the morning (I have to admit, she is pretty cute

. But your comment made me think of the little belly I saw on one of the other hens yesterday. I thought it was the beginnings of the sac that overweight duckies get on their bellies since I've been feeding them half cracked corn/half layer crumbles over the winter to keep them warm (I'll be weaning them off the corn as I go through the next bag of layer). Could this be the egg belly you speak of? It runs from her breast back between her legs and just looks like a little speedbump right now. Maybe she's my early layer?

2 girls, a buff, and a pekin, and 2 eggs almost every day!

I haven't really noticed it on ducks, but it could be. My ducks are a lot lower to the ground than my geese, it's easy to see on geese

@gofasterstripe: Ha ha! You are funny! I am going out of town this afternoon for the weekend, but I'll try to get some pics up. The silvers show up in some of my blog photos--if you click on the "ducks" category from my blog's home page, you should be able to find some. I'll try to get closer-ups when I can. I would love if you took some ducks.

I believe it's mostly my magpies laying--not surprising, since they're Holderreads. I think one this morning was a Runner, but I have them all in together so I'm guessing based on color and shape. Magpies tend to have whiter, plumper eggs.

I'll be in touch soon, or if not, shoot me an email or something so I don't forget!
