How's the laying going?

Im getting 3/3 somedays 2/3 from my swedish mixes.( at least thats what I think they are... need to post pics)

I'm getting nothing, it's still pretty cold here and there is still a bit of snow around. Hopefully it'll get warmer soon and they'll start laying. I haven't eaten a duck egg since November 11th, all I want is one soft boiled Muscovy egg, is it too much to ask?

My drake has started to take an interest in the ducks again though, so hopefully not too much longer to wait.

My pekins just started laying again recently. I have 3 girls and get 1 egg per day. I just put 7 eggs in the bator to see what would happen. I'm hopping the boys are doing their job.

I have been getting eggs since end of Dec. But this is this first time laying too...not sure if that has something to do with it or not. We get one a day from both of our girls. Although 1 day we had 3 and my husband was almost convinced it was our male.

I think it was one they hid the day before.

7 dozen muscovy eggs for 2011

Wow, 7 dozen! I got 20 eggs from the young 4 M' girls between 1/6 and 1/13. 13 were fertile and went to hatcher earlier today.
Then they quit laying ...

Oh Lisa...im wondering if Tula is a he/she duck. I was outside for a few hours yesterday and Tula & PomPom were the only ducks near me so I had a good look and listen to see who was making the noises. Sounds like Tula is a female, she doesnt quack as loud as a female but she doesnt have the rasp or a drake. Do you think she will lay eggs. Only way I will find out is if and when they are all laying If I go in there and find 8 eggs regular then I will know she is a she...I dunno

very weird...female duck with a drake feather

Hi Nicky! It's a strange, strange thing! She/He quacked (QUACKED!) here and quacked the morning I caught them and brought them up to the lane. I would have said absolutely and without a doubt, it was a girl --- but maybe some boys quack? Maybe Tula will start laying and you'll have the first 'drake-feathered' girl.

Good luck with all the incubating eggs!
My Ancona eggs are hatching great, but I can't get a Muscovy egg to hatch. Last 2 weeks, their eggs made it to hatcher and perished just before or just after pip (fully developed ducklings).

Our ducks have layed an egg a day each (The Black Swede, Ady, missed one day), since they started laying in late October 2010. Yep, they have laid all through the winter

My Rouen girl has been laying in cycles for the last couple months now, she was laying while we were in Vegas and stopped last weekend and taking a break however I'm sure she'll be laying here soon since the drake has been on her practically none stop, so I've been bringing her indoors(The special needs girl) to give her a break from him, he hasn't attempted to mate with the 4mth old girls yet, and my Rouen girl doesn't seem broken hearted or lost without him, while he and the 4mth olds are outside looking in at their mate/momma in a box with bedding living it up. Plus she got her back toe nail or maybe someone pulled the nail out so I'm tending to her back toe at the moment. But she doesn't seem bothered at all without him around her. I'm guessing my 4mth old girls will be laying within the next 6-8wks.

My Rouen just started laying again yesterday and just found another egg this morning, so she is on a 2wk cycle, lays for a week, takes a break for approximately 2, then lays again. So, here we go again! I usually jinx myself with this, as soon as I buy chicken eggs, she starts laying that day when I bring them home or the next. LOL!!

I will be so happy when I can say my ducks are laying..but as of now..nothing, zip, nada! I think they are doing it to make me look bad on the form. Hopefully when I turn them out onto the pond in about a month, they will get some more sunshine and lay, lay, lay. But to the rest of you that are getting them...Congrats.!!
