How's this for an adventure?

I fly jets for a living, the day I picked this Husky up I crossed ten time zones going from Paris to Seattle. For fun I'd rather go to the other extreme and fly low and slow and land on grass fields and sand bars. I felt like I was piloting a bumble bee, buzzing along railroad tracks through Glacier national park and stuff.

An expensive lesson in how not to land. It was night in an unlit grass field and we "ground looped" - spun around 180 degrees - and hit a wing tip and aileron. It's an easy thing to do with some tail-dragger planes. We made temporary repairs to get us home, and it's in the shop now for another ten days. Fortunately I wasn't flying that leg, I'd hate to damage somebody else's brand-new plane.

I would have if I'd known - be careful what you wish for.

Iron County was the name of the nearest airport, just a little grass strip. Not sure what town she lived in.

Well you were only about 2 1/2 hours away. So what did ya think of our beautiful UP of MI. Did it make ya want to run away from home LOL. Spend a winter and it would cure ya LOL
