Too bad you don't live out here in Nor Cal.. I could get you a job in a hot hurry working with troubled boys.... SED boys to be exact.... what a shame there isn't something like that out there for you.
People are just idiots now a days. I guess they think because there are so many folks out of work, that theres another employee around the corner. What a bunch of jerks. I wouldn't want to work for them. Your husband could probably work at the local McDonalds and make more money without driving so far. I can't even believe they said that.
My truck gets 9 mpg in the city and about 15 on the highway.
So, if I had to work about 3 hours away (~150 miles).... I would use (round-trip) about 20-25 gallons of gas... Which at 3.55 per gallon = $71.00 - $88.75
@ $8.00 per hour... I would need to work 8.9 - 11.1 hours just to recoup my gas cost.. and of course that doesn't take taxes into account.
I realize my mileage and cost is pretty high.. but still.
I think I'd have a real firm talk with this agency about how ridiculous they're being. I understand not wanting to deal with people who turn stuff down without good reason.. but this is just insane.
He filled out applications for KFC and other places today.
He tried talking to the temp place, but they told him he signed papers and if he refused a job, then they wouldnt use him anymore.

Can't teach stupid LOL! I think they are afraid if he keeps rejecting the offers, they will not get any money fees from the employer. I think that is how they make their money.
I don't know how you can report to the authorities but a contract is a contract unless you do know they have been doing it illegially.

my truck gets 12 city and 18 highway gas here is 3.69 and raising everyday. i went on a trip the other day 100 miles round trip was 55 dollars.
so i am thinking 6 hours of driving a day. i cant even go 300 miles on one tank. only 220-250 per 21 gallon tank. so i would have to refuel some where everyday with probly a higher price of gas.
i would be in the hole before they even took taxes. i dont blame him.
