) we work good together and help each other out a lot . but I'm the one with the chickens , well she has one blind bantam that lives in the house but that's it

I was raised in the city... raised two kids in the country... they haven't lifted a "country" finger since! ---- BUT now their spouses love the "country" thing, so I watch and smile .

My wife loves the idea of being ready but she will not lift a finger to help. She hates chicken poo and scrubs the chicken eggs, and won't touch anything that has to do with a duck.

She hates it when I process chickens too. I am going to reduce the flock to the smallest possible for minimal footprint/pooprint.

She does love the bantams though. Useless, pretty japs.

Bottom line is she hates that I have a hobby, even though it only takes 1/2 hour a day; and that she is stuck with the kids that half hour. I offer to watch the kids while she does the chicken chores but nooooooooo wayyyyyyyyyy!.

I have been waiting 3 years for chickens, and have the lumber for framing (aframe I think) and actually have a young man who needs something to do that wants to help me get things started. I have the plans and everything . . . but then want ducks too and geese for the garden, and a little goat or two just to play with, and then the Alpacas are adding up in #'s, probably going to have to sell some boys, because the feed is killing me at $7 a bale . . so I need to get my priorities in order . . .I wanted enough chickens to sell eggs just to buy my feed and that is all . . .but now think I might get 12 and a rooster or 11 and a rooster and just be happy. DH is MUCH better since the pacemaker, but we have 3 rent houses that we are paying for,

with 2 more rented that helps, but still they need to be up and on the rental market this year . . .one almost ready, so we will see how it goes . . .I love messing with stuff, well, not so much in the winter, but I do it because they can't feed themselves or water themselves, so I am happy to do it for them . . .

Husband has found delight in the little ladies. Especially tonight when the first one got out and perched on a piece of wood hubby had across the brooder top...lol...it was funny, kinda. I was the one that had to chase baby girl around and WOW can they move quick. I'm so glad hubby has found some happiness in this new adventure. I'm LOVING it.
