Got lots done today. Hopefully lots tomorrow too. So wonderful to finally get some garden, chicken, yard stuff done without rain....

I hate myself right now...I lost all my wyandotte chicks today...They all died
I had them outside in their pen on the grass with a towel on one half for shade..came inside to take a shower and fold the laundry..went back out and the towel had blown off
It was way to hot for them without the shade...i feel like such an idiot ...im so upset at myself right now.

So sorry, Lexi, you must feel horrible, but it was an accident, don't be too hard on yourself. I'm sure many, many experienced poultry people have done something like this accidentally, when you think of how fragile chicks are, it is such a fine line. Hope you feel better...

Aww I'm so sorry to hear that, Lexi. Try not to beat yourself up. Well I have sad news that I have been keeping to myself...we lost our SLW, EE and the 2 , black Australorps. One of our dogs did it. He is so good with the chickens....I think he was playing with them and got too rough. The chickens were free ranging and someone let the dog out unattended. I have been through so much heartache already that I seriously considered throwing in the towel. Lady Claire continues to act as if she is not a chicken...her little pal, Queen Fifi follows her, but luckily is more chicken like. Worked a bit on my garden today. Had a headache all day. Now off to make dinner.

Laura, im so sorry! Iv come to realize, chickens are one of the hardest animals to keep alive! I know it sounds silly..and it seem like a chicken would be easy..but its really not! I was just telling my BF that we are having a good year with our chicks and the next day, they all died. And thank you for all the support!
