Hudson Valley NY *chat thread*

I also think my EE chick is a rooster....

Two 3 options are
1. Try to give him away
2. Give him to my father to eat
3. Keep him until someone complains he is too loud

We are allowed roosters, we just have a noise ordinance, so if he gets too loud and people complain I would have to get rid of him.

Mmmm your nieghbors may like hearing a rooster. I would not have more than one though or they get more aggressive, more noisy. If you have to sell him. I bought my guy for $10

Hi, I have a beautiful, silver laced Wyandotte rooster, he was supposed to be a hen but I guess the hatchery was wrong!. He is about 3 months old and very sweet, but I am not allowed to have any roosters in my town. I am in the lower Hudson valley. I need him gone ASAP, and I really don't want to butcher him. Thanks.

No I will give him away for free, I don't plan on having a lot. In fact I wasn't even expecting to keep one at all. We will have a nice big chicken yard for the girls but no boys allowed

If no one complains I might keep him but I figured it would be better to offer him up to a family when he is so little so that they will get accustomed to him before he gets all kinds of hormones. Less adjustment etc.

My father keeps offering to eat him lol...he is only three weeks old.

Can you post a pic of him? What hatchery did you get him from?

Hi Coupe, I got him from Meyer hatchery, he was hatched on May 9th. Here are a few pictures, let me know what you think.

He is beautiful!! Wish I could take him..I already have 2 slw roos. Let me ask around and see if I know anyone who needs one. He is pretty nice looking for a hatchery bird.
