Hi Charlie~
Welcome!
What kind of chickens do you have? I have a variety of 13. Beware:: Chickens are addicting. So is BYC and this Hudson Valley thread.

I can't do Walmart on the weekends...I just want to ram my cart up everyone's heels.lol not that it's much better thru the week. But vino sounds good! Maybe I should drink before I go to Walmart....nah, that would just be trouble.lol
OH I know what you mean! I HATE Walmart but it's close and I needed non-food things like a dustpan, shoelaces, etc...((Walmart stuff lol)) As usual, my son
wanted everything so I spent more than I wanted to and forgot a few things of course. He's so distracting lol As much as I hate to admit it, my DH is right. We don't have room in the coop for ducks. We probably should have made the coop bigger but we really only planned to have 6 chickens but you know how THAT goes...... !!

You should get muscovies!! They are known for their fly and mosquito eating!!! Maybe tell your hubby you need 1 to keep the mosquito population down lol. They are also great for catching and eating mice!
I got my first Muscovy because we had raccoons bothering the chickens, he kept them away. Their really great! And plus its the only type of duck the BF would let me have because it dosnt quack!

Haha you did alot more than me aswell!! It felt like i did a ton of stuff today...but now that i think about it, i didnt do squat! Cleaned the pool and gave 1 of the dogs a bath...sat around and watch the BF work on the motorcycles and worked on my tan, while i thought about cleaning my 4wheeler.Lol
I tried the frozen water bottle trick to keep the chickens cool...they thought i was crazy!!! Looked at me like i lost my mind! It was very amusing.
LOL sounds like you had a nice day! What kind of motorcycle does your BF have?

My chickens didn't know what to make of the water bottle either. They avoided it. They seemed a lot more comfortable today so I didn't bother putting another one in there. My DH suggested getting a solar-powered fan for the coop. I'll research them eventually. Maybe central air would be better

JUST KIDDING!!!

Re: muscovies. I didn't know they ate bugs and mice. Do they like ticks too? I had Lyme Disease a few times and still get symptoms from time to time and I do NOT want it again! Maybe I can change my old man's mind........

Hi also, Charlie! Yup, yup ... Very addicting, indeed! I am already planning a few chicks that I would like to add next spring! Ah, I'm glad I'm not alone in my idleness today, Lexi!

Oh...and Lisa...I can't believe you haven't had a fresh egg yet! But...wait...yeah, I get it ... I wouldn't try one for years!! I just thought it sounded gross. Now I am one of those annoying converts...going around pushing fresh eggs on everyone. Lol I only have my RIR who's laying (an amazing egg a day for 5 or 6 days ... Then 1 day off, and back to more laying!) My other 6 are young... 9-10 weeks old. They grow so fast don't they?

Lisa, do you want a dozen fresh eggs? My Auntie has close to 30 birds and has more eggs than she knows what to do with. I can put in some duck eggs for your hubby! We could meet up at Quick Check or something .. do an egg deal in the parking lot.lmao

He has Harley's..He does alot of customization work to them and has his own little shop out of his garage.
A solar powered fan would be a great idea!! Altho the girls would much rather have the AC, im sure!
I dont know if they eat ticks...im sure they do, they eat everything else. Ill have to do some research now and see if that do!

Very nice. I noticed him quite a while ago. He's very flashy, catches your eye even when he's far off the road near the barn.
