I'm sure they will be fine until I get home, he is just paranoid. Especially because he was home alone with the children and the animals for the first time in months.Quote:
Haha!! DH says they're MY chickens but he likes collecting the eggs. When he found the first one I was SOOOOO mad!! Sometimes we aren't home to collect eggs until later in the day. They don't go bad that quickly do they??
LOL Sounds like he was a little overwhelmed !!I'm sure they will be fine until I get home, he is just paranoid. Especially because he was home alone with the children and the animals for the first time in months.
not sure I'm ready for any "surprises" when I crack open some eggs so I'll make sure they're collected promptly! No ,they can last along time. If you have a rooster with the hens, I wouldnt leave them out for over a day...just incase they start developing.
LOL My husband swore he would build coops and I would take care of the chickens. Now since I just started working again this week. I come home and he is outside with them, eggs are already collected. He has fed them and watered. I am lucky if I get to see them at all before he coops them back up for the evening and gives them a treat. They adore him and follow him around ! That is all that had to happen before he started helping. My RIR Jessica hung out with him while he was working on his truck once...ever since he thinks they are cute and lets them out when he is in the yard or driveway etc.How on earth did you get your husband to collect eggs?!?! Iv been trying to get my BF to feed the chickens or do anythig with the chickens for years now lol what is your secret!!
Eggs can get muddy or dirty from the hens moving the eggs around the box with their feet..especially when its wet out!
Sorry to hear .Ugh stupid fox!!!! Killed another hamburg..well I think the hamburg killed itself..theres no way the fox could get it..the fox was digging around the grow out pen and im pretty sure it scared the chickens and one of them broke their neck.
I think it is more a worry that you might end up with a broody by waiting to collect the eggs or they might start egg eating then development.not sure I'm ready for any "surprises" when I crack open some eggs so I'll make sure they're collected promptly!
