I don't understand my chickens! My husband moved the wheelbarrow and found 5 eggs. Why are my chicken laying eggs in my yard? Help me get them to lay in their netting boxes?

Keep them locked up for a day or 2, put some fake eggs in the nest boxes. What time do you let them out in the morning?

I do have flake eggs in their nesting boxes. I let them out at 10 am.

I would try to keep them in the coop alittle longer in the AM if possible..try letting them out around 12 for acouple days...

Okay I kept them in until 1230. I had no eggs in the nesting box until 3 or 4 o'clock in the afternoon I found three in the nesting box. One on the floor, the one on the floor was very very softshell
like it had only a membrane not hardshell. I've never seen that before, this is the first time I ever had chickens. I been looking around in my yard to see if they lay any somewhere else, it's very hard to find them here. I have 41 acres of land and they going to the woods and it's hard to see exactly where they are all the time. I actually can say I love these chickens they are so fun to watch.

once winter hits and they aren't outside as much, they will lay inside and get the idea, for spring it will just be old habit for them.
