Hi Marcia and John~ Did you try Craigslist? I got 6 buff Orpingtons from someone named Louie on CL in July. I don't have his phone # anymore; wish I did since that would be a huge help, of course. He's in Wurtsboro I believe.

Attention Beacon chicken owners! There is a proposed law before the Beacon City Council that would severely limit the right to keep chickens in Beacon. Some of the aspects of the proposal include:

1. Limit of 5 hens
2. No roosters
3. 8 foot fences around run
4. Permit requirement (Don't know how much this will cost!)
5. Only single family homes can have chickens
6. No roosters
7. Coops/Run must be 5 feet or more from property line
8. No electricity to coop
9. Other issues.

Best of all, the punishment is a fine or up to 15 DAYS JAIL! If you are opposed to this change, contact the mayor and the city council. You can find their email addresses and phone numbers here:

There is also going to a public hearing on this that is currently scheduled for Oct. 21 at the City Council Meeting which starts at 7PM. I tried to attach the proposed ordinance here but I have not been able to. Please contact me directly and I will send it to you.

Hi Lexi~

Yep...treated her with antibiotics, probiotics, and Vet Rx...isolated her too, but now she's back with the other girls. She's still showing the same symptoms~ her comb is floppy...weakness, not eating or drinking much. She has never laid an egg (no signs of being egg bound or sour crop, etc.) and now she's so weak, she can't jump up onto the roosting bar. We know what has to be done but neither of us wants to do it !!

How are you? I've been home for the past 2 weeks...furloughed. Bored to tears!!! What's new? How's your chickens?

Well im glad to hear she is still with you! Hopefully it wont come to that!
Iv been ok..my father got really sick the other day and is now In the hospital..so iv been spending most of my days there. He should be coming home tomorrow which is good.
He had gottin hit on his motorcycle by a drunk driver back in 1973...shattered his leg..ever sense then he has had so many problems withit. But he got a bad infection this time and it spread to his shin bone. But all seems well.
Hope your staying sane being home!!!
All my chickens are well...should be having more muscovy ducklings in the next couple of days!! I will post tons of pics of course!

Why are you rehoming him? Cant have roosters? Roosters are hard to rehome, but you should have some luck if he is purebred.
