Hudson Valley NY *chat thread*

I can relate. Chicken poop is an accessory for me also. Mud too these days. And maybe egg because I forgot to bring the egg basket out with me yesterday and I couldn't carry all of the eggs so I put an egg in each pocket of the jacket I was wearing (my husband's! lol) and now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not entirely sure I took those eggs out of the pockets. Hope he didn't wear it to work today........

Yeah I just came in from.feeding and decided that poop and mud will just be part of my clothes until everything dries and the more I fight it the more ill get covered

You can incubate chicken & duck eggs together. The ducklings will take approximately a week longer to hatch & need a higher level of humidity than the chicks. I've done them before together with decent hatches. I put some chicken eggs in the incubator yesterday & will throw in some duck eggs within the next few days. Going to look at the hatching posts for recommendations since it's been a few years since I've hatched both together.

Thank you, I'm just going to incubate chicken eggs for now. I was thinking about doing both next years. I don't have ducks yet. I order 10 duckling for Holderread deliver date in April 7th. Thinking about putting both chicks and ducks in the same brooder, not sure yet.

I raised my ducklings with my chicks, you just have to make sure the ducklings have enough water to get their little heads wet, so they can clean their nostrils out

Tonight was almost the night. I came "this" close to taking a faceplant in the muck in the run. I avoided disaster by grabbing the run fence. I think I might be a little sore tomorrow, but at least I am not sore and covered in muddy chicken poo.

I think I better pick up some straw for the run.
