It's disappointing they make it all the way to zipping and then fail :-( Is that where the importance of humidity being 'just right' comes in or is it that they were weak to begin with?

Hi JerseyHen~ Yay~ Post pics of the chicks :) They all arrived safely, I hope! How many chickens do you have? When is the Sussex show? We weren't going to get chicks. I'm not sure what happened ~ it was a weak week I guess. We have 7 eggs in the incubator due to hatch tomorrow. DH's cousin bought 2 silkies for his grandkids for Easter and realized chickens are against the rules where he lives and asked me to take them. I said "No" but by the end of the conversation I said I'd take them. And we have 6 meaties in the brooder (DH's project) WTH...I'll bring a box to the North Salem thing tomorrow just in case.... I'm outta control.

Wish I could join you guys at the north salem chicken thingy.. its just to long of a trip for me!
I havnt started incubating yet but am excited cause all or most of my girls are now laying! Even my 8 year old Silver Spangled hamburg hen laid an egg this morning! Last year she went broody too!

30 of 30 survived the trip (they shipped on Wed and arrived on Thur in decent weather for a change). I can't believe it, I have never had shipped chicks with 100% survival. They all look great too. I currently have 33 adults outside (30 hens and 3 roosters). Now we have 30 in the brooder and I have 28 eggs in the 'bator due for the Easter HAL. I will post pics soon, I think they are acclimated enough to start playing with them a bit. The brabanters are the puffiest little bitties ever! and the Jaerhons are sooo cute.

The spring show is May 17th in Augusta NJ (at the NJ fairgrounds). https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...anciers-annual-spring-show-2014#post_13105011 It is a nice show and there is also a farmer's market at the fairgrounds on saturday.

Jzervar92, I sorry that happen to you. I don't understand why McMurray hatchery would ship chicks on a Firday. I order duckling for Holderread in Dec and wanted them on the 7th. I got a letter from them stating that they are going to ship them on the 21th. You have to order way advance, first come first serve. They will only ship on Monday and Tuesday. They are going to call me the day they ship them. If I were you I would never order from them again.

Yay !!!!!!
