Today is moving in day our 4 big girls. Check out the New Coop my husband and Son in law built for them. They are free ranging right now so I may have a hard time keeping the cooped for a few days. Any advice on this process would be appreciated.

Is there a need to keep them in the actual coop for a few day or can I let them in the run?

Some people do so they learn to go in every night. I brooded mine in their coop and didnt let them out until 4 weeks old. I still had to put them back in 1 by 1 for a week or two.

That run looks pretty safe. Some people like to keep them in the house to let them learn to go back in at night better.
Yes, the whole coop and run is like fort knocks. 🤪 there is hardware cloth 4” deep and 2’ out around the whole run, nothing will get to them.

Depending on the weather, mine used to sleep on their perches in the run. Where I used to live, the CA desert, it was 80 all night and the run was plenty safe enough, so that is where they would sleep all summer.

I have them in the new run. Now just to get them up into the coop at sunset.
