Huge brown chunk in her egg?/Slowed production?

I am embarrassed to ask this, but, hey, I cannot think of a better crowd in front of whom to embarrass myself.

How come the commercial egg production companies don't get these kinds of odd things? Or do they? Or is it just ducks? I have heard of chickens giving eggs with strange things in them.

By the way, we have seen a few oddities. Sometimes a little gray clump, sometimes a pale egg with darker colored patches on the shell.

Commercial egg producers use strict quality control so their customers never get these kinds of EWWW factors to look at. They are candled for interior imperfections and sorted by appropriate size, anything out of the ordinary gets put to other use besides packaged eggs.

Good question Amiga.

if you go to youtube, you can find a ton of vids of complete eggs inside layed eggs. Apparently what happens is, if a chicken is traumatised for one reason or another it can actually suck its formed egg back up the wrong way and if it gets far enough it will just be recoated with another egg, yolk and all!
