There's always a risk of introducing some type of illness, you just never know.I agree, letting it dry out and get nasty made no sense and that's why I asked here! I know I'm still a newbie with loads to learn about chickens. This little chic thou? She's a special one! I'm trying to find her a friend her age or younger (she's a week old) so my question is now becomes this - let's say tomorrow I find someone with great references or certifiactions do I still need to keep separated for a month? I know she can't go into my mixed flock alone, down the road when she's bigger and healed but can I safely give/get her a friend now? Is it even possible? And many thanks to all of you each and every time I come here freaking out and you help me help the girls
That said, if you find some chicks, then I think I would probably get them and put them with your lone chick. It is a little easier to integrate more than one chick into a flock.
