If I crack it open, it probably won't have a double yolk, all the bigger ones I have gotten have never had a double yolk yet.

One of my original hens used to lay eggs like that. I took one down to the local feed store just to prove I wasn't lying about the "giant" eggs. They weighed it and it was right at 1/4 of a pound.

Mine were all double-yolks, so my theory is that the first egg had started to form but hadn't moved far enough along before the second egg was ready to go. Kind of like two cars bumper to bumper in a car wash. So the shell just kept growing until it covered both eggs.

My eggs all had a "wrinkle line" around the center of the egg.
