Noticed one of my chickens was walking strangely, and I found a big sore below her vent. She has had poop stuck there before, so I think it may be from that. Looks dry, does not seem open. Is there anything I should do?

Make sure she's isolated from other chickens so they can't pick at her. Look very closely for signs of maggots. You can try soaking her to get rid of some of the dried blood and get a better view. For something so huge and scabby I would maybe try some antiseptic spray, possibly some zinc oxide cream or something to keep it moist and protected while it heals.

It looks pretty clean and dry, it's actually in better shape than I thought, isolated her in my garage away from the other chicken and the heat wave. I decided not to clean it as nothing is open and I think doing anything to it might just open up the soreness, will check her again tomorrow. Thanks!

I would soak her vent area once a day in warm water with Epsom salts or a disinfectant such as Betadine or chlorhexidene, for about 15 minutes. Then after inspecting for maggots, apply Neosporin or a similar ointment twice a day. Was she pecked by the other chickens. Vent pecking and cannibalism can be common. If there is any over crowding, too much light, too little protein or unbalanced diet, and if some breeds are aggressive.
