Human-aggressive rooster

Don't keep a man fighter. Think of your kids, or your dog or cat, with a spur in their eyes. Not a nice thought, eh?

Go to the doctor about your wounds. I had one, and ended up with stitches and heavy duty antibiotics. Spurs are carrying all sorts of bacteria. Do it soon too.dont mess around with it. Cull the rooster.

My Rooster last year was a mean one too...Attacked me daily. In two weeks he became totally unsafe.
Never worth keeping a mean Rooster. I am actually debating if I should try my Danish Brown Leghorn cockerel this year after the physical fights my other rooster and I had this spring???
They only know too fight and protect the flock..Roosters will fight till you have too kill him or be really hurt....

I know people will say that I'm wrong but in my experience I'd cull him. I do have one that I'm still testing him out. He spured my a couple times until I took a board to him. I'm still watching him but I can tell by his actions that I'll probably end up culling him. With a toddler around I'd definitely cull him

Nearly a year later, and I'm so happy I can let my now toddler play with the chickens. I don't allow him to harm them or scare them, but he definitely engages in behaviors Mr. Rooster wouldn't Iike. My older kids want us to get a rooster so we can have babies, but I've told them I'm not willing to risk a bad one until toddler is older. They enjoy being able to gather eggs without fear, as do i.

One can always go to the farm supply store or order from a hatchery to get babies. You don't NEED a rooster for that. (Well, someone will NEED a rooster so we can have baby chicks, but YOU don't need one...)
