Ok, maybe it's because being a chicken mom is new for me but (and I can only admit this here), sometimes I sit on a little stool outside the coop and just watch the chickens. I find it relaxing like watching fish in an aquarium and just plain amusing to see how they react to different foods.

Am I certifiable?

Certifiable? I go free-ranging with mine! I follow them out into the woods, find a nice stump to sit on and then just watch. Sometimes for hours.
The chickens have grown used to their stalker.

My roo dances for me whenever I go outside now. My two ladies come running for me when they want to come in. ( I'm hopeing to have their coop ready to move back into by the end of next week ) The ladies stay in a playypen in my living room lol .They roost on the sides and when they are looking around I find myself looking in the same direction to see what they are looking at. My DH caught me doing that one day before I really noticed I was doing it. He told me I spend to much time with the chickens and that I needed to get out more often lol

We have two nice comfy fold up chairs in the chicken barn. We have three plastic chairs in the chicken yard and we have the curtains open all the time. When company comes we usually spend an hour or so in the barn and yard. Then we retire to the house and watch the chickens from the kitchen. As one person who visited here said: Geez, I thought I was busy until I watched the chickens. WE LOVE our chickens. They are one of the most amazing creatures and some show real affection. Our biggest kick is feeding them old bread. We darn near get the whole flock to come for the bread.Their personalities are so different.

I made the mistake this evening of taking out some slices of American cheese. Its a good thing I was on the other side of the run fence. Talk about a riot! Wow.

I let them out into the back yard to eat some grass at about 5:30 (sunset) They did NOT want to go back in but when they realized how dark it was, they all ran for that square of light at the bottom of the coop.

Fun times.
