Human urine a debate to be had

I work in a prison and hunt deer I guess most would call me a redneck or country boy but when I loose a chicken or rabbit I get depressed and see my animals go through changes! Yes I breed rabbits for the harvest and never eat my chickens but if need arises I would! But dang it no predators gonna get my birds

Oh no judgement here ha ha. I would raise rabbit...but just never really had a taste for them. I mean, I guess taste is all about availability at the end of the day. If the stores fully run out of meat, I'll hit you up for your best rabbit stew recipe lol.

I use the urine deterrent myself here. We have issues with coons, foxes and coyote but I at first focused on coyotes just because coons are only out at night and unless I ran across one on the way to the outhouse my defense was useless.
Foxes are far to fast and never stood still long enough for it to work.
I have found that peeing will work as a coyote deterent very well but getting close enough to pee on them is difficult.
You also have to consider the chance that they may attack. Not only are your vulnerable parts exposed, but it can be hard to run with your pants around your ankles so you have to be careful and ready.
I've now found it much easier to just pee on my chickens to keep them safe. That tactic is much easier and works against all predators.

"Not gonna lie, they had me in the first half."

That's genuinely funny.

You be soft, kinda lady like.

My grandmother and mom has always told me that urine keeps some animals away and brings others in. Every so often I test there theory and squat close to my chicken coop and pee. I'm still not sure if it works. Some times I get a unwanted guest but I don't pee outside all the time. I leave that to my husband. 😁

I used to be worried about leaving human scent when trapping. I knew an old trapper who told me that most predators get used to human scents. He never used any precautions about leaving scents including pissing. He was a smoker and would leave ashes and his butts around the area where he was trapping and it didn't seem to matter. I thought about it and noticed on my game cameras that mostly predators do piss for scent marking. I don;t think it's really a deterrent just a scent mark to say you were there. Glad it's working for you. Good luck...
