human urine as a deterrent

I have won a bet I used to make with people about not using bait and still being able to catch a possum guess how I did it?

if you had to work to get to chickens or you could find food under a deck you did not have to work for which would you choose.

When I run out of different baits and lures and I still need to catch a fox grey fox are suckers for a post that has been urinated on I normally catch them by the back feet

Every single night I go out to close the coop down I urinate in a different spot. At first I thought it might be working then one night I lost 22 chickens to 2 foxes. So I would not rely on it as any kind of deterent. It is fun though.

Darn, sounds like the vote is no, that it doesn't work. Too bad. I mean, it's easy and cheap and readily available

I have been trying a predator urine powder for mice, it seems to work but expensive.

We're not gross ... we're recycling. I mean, it has to go somewhere and if it could be used for something instead of just going down the drain and into the sewer, why not?

I'm a girl and i used a can.

What is gross is when you go to the store and get ready to get out of your truck and see a big puddle right outside the door

Right on. And you're not the only girl who has used or can or thought about it, I promise.

It doesn't matter what type of urine it is, it all quickly breaks down into ammonia.
It may even ATTRACT animals what use scent marking.

Don't be fooled into thinking it will "repel" anything

wow. thanks for the replies!

I was wondering if it was "working" or not, I think my hubby just likes it, somehow marking "his" territory gives him a cheap thrill!!!!!

Now, on the other hand if it could be attracting predators- yikes!!!!

We only tried it cause they sell deterrents, and why buy something you can make for free, right!!

peeing on the compost pile, hmmmm, should I have my hubby redirect his aim???
(LOLOLOLOL)

and for those that think its gross, where did you grow up? I recall peeing contests off the back porches of homes out in East Texas and Western Louisianna, so ya'll that think its gross must be YANKEES!!

Okay, then explain to me why my hubby and dog are in a race to see who can cover their territory first in our back yard. I just shake my head and hope the neighbors aren't looking. My girls look at them and wonder what breed of chicken does that sort of behavior. When my dog goes out in the yard after I put the chickens away, he goes around and snuffles where they've pooped. Does he have a poop fettish???
