*Humidity at 65??? Is that to high!? UPDATE!*

Quote:
Your humidity is too high, try lowing it The eggs need to loose a certain amount of moisture during incubation. If you initially incubate at a higher humidity then you can drown the chicks as the water accumulates in the air sack and when the chick pips the air sack it drowns. I used to incubate at around 50% humidity but have found if I keep my humidity down to around 35% during incubation and keep it around 75% during lockdown I get much better hatches. The plugs need to be out during lockdown. The eggs need the added airflow. If the humidity goes down during lockdown I put a straw in a hole and squirt a little warm water on a paper towel in the bottom of the incubator. The moisture will spread out some but that is ok. My hatches are or near 100%. Since I have been doing my hatching like this my hatch rate has went up and I have had 100% hatches which i never thought before was possible. Good luck on your hatch...

You will want your humidity higher for the last 3 days. I usually set my eggs for hatching late in the day on day 18 or early in the day on day 19 to give them the most exercising from turning and put my humidity up to 65% to 75% when I set my eggs to hatch. Originally they need to loose moisture during incubation or they can drown and at lockdown when I raise the humidity the chicks need the higher humidity so they won't stick in the shell so they can move around to pip and zip and hatch.

Same here.

To lower humidity open the vents. Do you have water in the tray? Soak the water up with some towels. I don't add any water during incubation and my humidity stays around 30% or so.

Yes it is.

I offer an article from PP magazine if you send me your e-mail address. It's to big to post it here.

However the run down on humidity is 35% til day 16, then up it to 55% , then again to 65% on day 19 and kept there til chicks hatch. I've used this with my Genesis 1588 and things are good.

I suggest just leaving it where it is and let it decrease on it's own. Which it should in a day or two. DO NOT PANIC.

Hope things are good,

Rancher
